Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Episode 22 Discussion & Gallery

So – remember when I said that I understood Satoko? Well, I take that back! I still get why she wants to change her fate. She wants to be with Rika, and she has proof that joining the high school Rika intends to go to won’t bring her a happy ending. However, that only made sense when the girl didn’t know that her best friend goes through so many deaths to reach her objective. I know that the Anime shows a severe co-dependence case, which can make people do crazy things to stay with the person they’re attached to. Even so, if Satoko really loved Rika, then she would never make her friend go through so many ordeals to reach the future she wants. Well, at least she hasn’t directly hurt Rika (so far), preferring to take her own life to restart the loop.

The episode was pretty entertaining. Although there isn’t a scene that stood out, the 20 minutes went by quite quickly. All the gore added on this episode is also a big plus on my books, making episode 22 a great watch. Still, now that we’re so close to the end, I’m more curious to know how the story is going to develop when we get back to Rika and Satoko’s scene several episodes ago.
