Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Episode 3 Discussion & Gallery

While Higurashi no Naku Koro ni third episode was a bit slow-paced, it was an important episode to provide more entail on the mystery we have at hand. Not only did the episode explain everything about the village God, but it also provided information on the killings that have been happening in the past few years. It seems that there’s always someone who dies and another one who gets spirited away on the day of the annual Festival. More than that, we got to see more about Rena’s past and how she suffers from a mental illness where she believes the village God visits her every night. Things are looking grim for her, and the show is trying to put her as the main suspect of the killings.

Honestly, I find this hard to believe. It’s common for this type of genre to focus on the character who’s actually innocent. Instead, I think that Keiichi is going to be the one who’s killing everyone. We already got to see that he has a memory of killing someone, though it seems he can’t pinpoint if it’s a true memory or just a past dream. The God (or whoever) is probably messing with his head, making him kill on their behalf. If we pay closer attention, we don’t know what either character did after the Festival when Jirou and Miyo went missing. We only know that they weren’t together, which means that both Keiichi and Rena had the opportunity to kill them.

But that’s just my theory. I remember a few key aspects from the original, but I don’t know who is killing who. So, it’s going to be exciting to find out whether I’m correct or not. What about you? Who do you think is killing each year on the Festival’s day? Tell me everything down below. ?
