Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 22 Discussion & Gallery

I guess Jujutsu Kaisen is going to end this season with a small arc about Megumi. While I don’t mind finding more about this character’s life, it feels that he became the go-to solution when the creators need to fill in episodes. I mean, it wouldn’t make sense for the Anime to focus on the protagonist when it’s such a short arc, but why aren’t we getting such a big focus on Nobara.

Megumi already got plenty of screen time. We know his motives to be an exorcist, and he even had some growth throughout the season. The same cannot be said about Nobara, who (besides her presentation episode) has remained on the sidelines with close to zero evolution. Her character has remained the same throughout the season, and she’s usually used as comic relief or as a support to the other two guys.

Honestly, I’m not very satisfied with this. I think that one of Naruto’s biggest mistakes was to focus so little on the female protagonists, especially Sakura and Hinata. While the former ended up being one of the most hated characters of all time, the latter seems to exist just to become Naruto’s wife in the future. Considering we’re in 2021, I thought that the Anime industry had learned something. But Jujutsu Kaisen seems to have missed the memo.

Character focus aside, the episode was fun and intriguing to watch. I actually prefer that we get a small arc where the protagonists need to execute a curse than random events like the baseball game from the previous episode.
