Kai Byoui Ramune Episode 7 Discussion & Gallery

There was a lot of stuff that I liked about Kai Byoui Ramune’s episode 7 and others that I didn’t like as much. I enjoyed the idea behind this new disease, where a creative person has to shut down his brain to go according to his father’s wishes. Unfortunately, many teenagers go through this all over the world, and I’m guessing Japan is even worse due to its traditional society. The thing about the guy popping popcorn from his head every time he tries to suppress his thoughts is creative. However, I’m not a huge fan of the character himself. Even though creative people are usually absent-minded, especially when they’re geniuses like Shun. But the character is so out there that he almost seems a caricature of a creative person. Probably this was the only way to find a way for the guy not to understand what the problem was off the bat, as it’s clear as water.

On the flip side, the toxic relationship between Shun and his father is well developed. Even when the man appeared to love his son all the way, I always felt that something was fishy. No dedicated father would say to his child that their mother was in the hospital because they like to do creative things. At most, they would protect their kid and say to their partner that there’s nothing wrong with choosing your own path. So, it wasn’t as shocking when the Anime revealed that most of what the father had said was a lie. Probably, Shun’s mother is even ok with the fact that her son wants to pursue a creative life.
