Otherside Picnic Episode 3 Discussion & Gallery

Otherside Picnic Episode 3 Discussion & Gallery

Although I like how Otherside Picnic is taking its time to tell its story, episode 3 was pretty uneventful. It does make sense that the girls have some unfruitful adventures, as they’re still scouting the area and trying to understand how the otherside works. But some things on this episode could be easily expanded – the main one being the big head village. Somewhere in the episode, the girls find a strange village where rice plates are sitting unattended at one of the houses’ tables. Near the food, you can see a picture portraying a man, which is quite intriguing. However, the Anime just glosses over it and doesn’t really go much into it. The same happens when Toriko completely vanishes. There’s probably something in the mist that makes people lose their way, but there isn’t really much of an explanation, and the main characters don’t even seem to care about the strange event.

You could argue that the episode didn’t have the time to get into each detail of the village. And that’s true – 20 minutes only last so long. Still, a lot of time was spent with things that don’t really matter. For example, Toriko trying to find a way for the girls to scout the terrain faster could have been explained in less time – especially when nothing came out of it. The same can be said about the girls catching the lift as they do on every episode.

But, things don’t end here. So far, there wasn’t any mention about how Toriko got the gun or the ammo. This way, I thought she probably had a connection who sold this type of gear. However, the moment she says she found everything in a house, one has to ask how much ammo did she find. I mean, they don’t really save on the bullets, and they didn’t go to that house since the Anime has started. Honestly, it would be best not to even mention the thing. Although it makes the story a bit more realistic, it also creates a small hole in the story.

That being said, I did like to have some scenes that show how Sorao is falling in love with Toriko. This was something that wasn’t really addressed so far, and considering the Anime is a shoujo-ai, it’s important to have some relationship development. Did you enjoy Otherside Picnic’s episode 3?
