Yakusoku no Neverland Season 2 Episode 3 Discussion & Gallery
Since the beginning of Yakusoku no Neverland’s season 2, I’ve been feeling things are being too easy. First, they’re saved by two demons who can’t eat farm humans due to their religion, then the same demons taught them how to survive in this dire world. Now, in episode 3, they found a shelter where they can happily live forever. It was too good to be true. And, in this episode, we were reminded that we’re watching a psychological Anime, not a slice-of-life orphanage kind of thing.
The first hint we have that things aren’t as they seem to be is when Sonju says to Mujika that the only reason he helped the kids was to eat humans in the future, as their religion allows eating humans if the demons hunt them. So, all the help he gave for them to survive had an ulterior motive. Even Mujika, who seems to like the kids (Emma especially), still questions whether they should have returned the children to the farm to get some hefty compensation. In short, no one is trustworthy (probably not even Minerva).
But that’s something that is only going to happen in the far future. What really turned the Anime back to its dark roots was the ‘help’ message the kids found in one of the rooms at the end of the episode. It just shows that the shelter isn’t as safe or peaceful as the kids imagined. There has to be a big reason why that message is there. Maybe Minerva is also a demon who wants to have his own human farm, or maybe he’s going to use the kids for some experiments. I’m not sure, but I’m excited (and a bit scared) to know.
