Yakusoku no Neverland Season 2 Episode 9 Discussion & Gallery

I think it’s common knowledge by now that Yakusoku no Neverland season two is a mess. The adaptation is poorly executed, and the series’ potential was completely wasted. I’ve already spoken about some of the scenes with almost zero impact because the Anime either skipped entire arcs or decided to tell the story instead of actually showing it. For those who don’t know, the ‘show, don’t tell’ is one of the most basic practices film (and I guess Anime) directors learn. Unless it’s something irrelevant for the main plot, such as a secondary character past, the Anime should always show those important arcs.

So, you can guess what I thought about episode nine. Norman’s change of heart was too fast. The same goes for the other characters who were experimented on by the demons. Then, the way that the children got that pen upgrade that showed how to save the other kids was too convenient. In fact, Emma and Ray really didn’t do much to survive throughout this season. While season one was all about the three protagonists finding strategies to survive and escape the farm, season two almost seemed a slice-of-life kind of thing where the characters went from one point to the other with little effort. Even all the answers they required were given to them on a silver plate. So yeah, episode nine (like most of the previous episodes) was a disappointment. And my heart hurts when I think that the Anime is probably going to finish the story at a blazing fast speed in the next two episodes.
