Arthifis’ Classroom: Getting More Google Hits! – Second Class

Hello everyone and welcome to our place!

Remembered when I started the Arthifis’ Classroom, made a post about getting more Google Hits and then just went into a hiatus for a month? Yeah? Well, I’m back and it’s time to finish this 😀 If this is the first post you are seeing, or you just need to remember what I said last month, you can check the first class here!

Yeah… That’s how imagine my classes…

Now, the last post I talked about the importance of having your own dominion, using pics to increment your presence at Google, the minimun number of words you should have in your posts, keywords and finished it how important it is to create good content! 😀 Today, I’ll wrap this up and give you a little more insight in other things that matter for the Google Bot!

– Links, Links and More Links! –

getting more google hits class 2 internal links
That’s how I imagine it! >.<

Links are really important to show Google that your content matters and it’s enjoyable. Of course that external sites linking to your blog are taken with more importance (It puts tags and awards in other eyes right?), but that’s not all!

So, having other bloggers or other sites putting links to your content is great! So yeah, awards are one of the “easiest” ways for you to do this! Basically it really is important for you at the end of the awards abide by the rule and just mention some cool bloggers! This way you are helping other bloggers’ SEO, but you will also be helping yourself since those people will link back to you when accepting the award.

Me, everytime I get tagged for an award!

But, that’s not all! Collabs, monthly featured posts such as Jon Creator Showcase and just guest blogging are also perfect to build those links!

But, that means you already need to be known in the community, at least a bit, so what can you do if those links are not coming?

Well, first of all, social media! It’s of utmost importance if you want to build links to have social media accounts! You can link your website in your profile and then you can just make a link to every post you create! 😀 To be honest, you should attack all Social Media platforms. However, if you are like me and don’t really have the intere… I meant the time for all of them, just stick with the one that you like the most. For me is Twitter!

But, there’s more you can do! Add internal links in your posts! Basically, just build links inside your own posts! See my first paragraph? See that link? Well, that just helped a little bit my SEO! Moreover, it can really make people click on it and therefore you will be able to get more views! How cool is that?

Other important thing is for you to add external links! Meaning, put links to your website that goes outside of you own place and go to other places in the internet! For example, if you are doing a review, you can just link the synopsis of MAL inside your post.

I see it as inviting others to other houses instead of my own xD

So, should you just start to make posts where there is no content expet for links? Of course not! These links need to be interesting and make any kind of sense in your text! There’s the reader point of view that will just not think of it as funny, but you also have the Google bot seeing if what you are putting makes sense and if it doesn’t, well it will not help in your SEO, in fact it will do the contrary!

– Google Search Console –

getting more google hits class Google Search Home
This is the homepage for my google search console for the arthifis.wordpress.com

Google Search Console is part of the Google Webmaster tools. To be honest, I would need a post only to talk about this and how can you create your account, verify your website and so on. But, lucky for us, WordPress already thought about this and has a step by step guide how to implement this. The guide is really simple to understand, but if you need more help just ask me on the comments or in twitter. You can find the guide here!

Now, the main reason for you to use Google Search Console is for you to add your sitemap and make Google indexing all of your pages and posts. Why is this important? Because, if Google does not index your website is like you don’t exist to him at all! WordPress says that they already do this automatically, but well… I prefer to do it by my own and make sure everything is done right.

Here you can see the search keywords, clicks, impressions, CTR and the position of my website

However, Google Search Console is not only for that! You can get more insight where your pages are ranking in Google Search as also with which search keywords your content is appearing in Google, as also clicks! Maybe not important to SEO, but well it’s interesting and fun to look at 😀 I would show pics of my own account, but since I’ve just changed my dominion, Google is still indexing all my stuff and it will take some time until it gets all of it. This way, all pics are from the previous dominion with .wordpress on the middle of it 😛 You know the one eheh

– Time Session –

getting more google hits class 2 time session

Basically, the more time people spent when they enter inside your blog, the more Google Bot think you’re content is good (it makes sense, right?). Unless you have a business plan you won’t be able to get this information in WordPress since you would need Google Analytics.

Nevertheless, you can take this into account and think in ways to make people spend more time in your blog. If you have a 1000 word post and you are able to make people read it all then you are good to go! If not, you need to think in ways to engage more your public. Links here is also important because if you are able to make people read 2 posts instead of one, there will be even more time spent in your page! 🙂

For today, this is going to be it! In reality, I already had more tips written, but the post was becoming gigantic and we all know that we are all busy people without much time to read! So, I decided to go with this 3 for today and next week I’ll come back with the third, and probably last, class about getting more Google Hits! 😀

Tell me in the comments if this post helped you, or if you already knew all about this! Moreover, give your own tips! Probably you even know more than me! XD

  1. awww see I didn’t know the links thing. I always tell people they don’t have to link back to my blog… Man I am really an SEO moron

    1. Loool but the links are not only for the SEO sake! Having the link back to your blog could make people to click it and increment the awareness of your blog 😛 I mean, let’s face it, everyone is way too lazy to look it up even if they find it interesting xD

      1. That said, do links in comments count too? XD
I’m not a tech-nerd despite my love for tech and big-data stuff, so Art-先生 hope you could enlighten us on this too! ^^

Great (and fun) read, and thanks for going through the effort to make it a fast read for viewers!

        1. Yes it does 😀 Although, of course as you could imagine it takes a LOT of links to make a difference! But, yes! Moreover, commenting can bring people to your blog just by the comment itself! 🙂

Thank you~! Hope it helps! Yeah, well I also prefer shorter posts so I’m biased ahah

          1. Hehh, it’s kind of ironic when I think about it, but the way spam bots include links in their comments certainly would contribute to that difference XDD
Though we all don’t want worthless and non-sincere non-discussion comments of course! 😛

          2. ahahah Well, spam comments also have other objective than SEO which is making people clicking in the link. However, since here in WordPress spam comments are removed really quickly it won’t help them at all 😛

And yes, it’s true that this kind of things help, but you never, but never should go away from your chore! More important than SEO is for you to give comments that are sincere and makes any kind of sense xD

  2. Ooh, it hadn’t occurred to me to use the traffic system to verify with google, so that is very useful, thank you!
I’m still learning on all of this, I must admit. Trying to find the things that work for not only site traffic but book sales is so hard though! I have a ton of social media accounts, each one links to my site, and each one gets posts or auto posts that ink to every post too, so i’m hoping that will help.

      1. Yes! That is to help Google to understand that all the variations of the link are in fact from the sae website 🙂 It’s one of the steps Google recommends right away to do 🙂

    1. The more the merrier to be honest! 😀 However, you also have to take into account if you have the time and the energy to work all those social media accounts! 😀 For example, I decided to just focus on my twitter for now and do a better job there in gaining followers than be all over the place and don’t be able to work any of them that good xD But, well, that is completely a personal choice ahah

But, more than creating SEO, social media is great to go besides your own community and find other people who may not even be in WordPress. So, not only for the Link building for the SEO, but to have clicks to your website from the platform itself XD

Converting people to buy your products is always difficult and takes a lot of time! I entered your wrbsite to test it out and gonna be honest, it took me a while to understand where those are 🙂

I would advise to make the exposure a little higher at your blog , for example a widget in the sidebar. Other thing is, don’t be afraid to say “Buy my book!” or something like that 🙂 The way it is right now you can’t really understand that you are selling it (or even if the book is from you) the moment you see, for example, the post in the home page leading to addict! 🙂 Don’t forget, people in the Internet are like monkeys, if they don’t see it right in front of their faces, they will not try to find it 🙂 But, well, that’s what I think of course 😀

No problem, I’m here to help and it makes me happy see that people are finding this interesting and helpful xD

      1. Excellent, thank you. I’m never certain how much to push the books, especially as overdoing it on social media is a definite detriment. I’m still working on tidying the site up a little though, so i’m hoping it’ll all be clearer soon. I jsut have to figure out the best way to approach it 🙂

  3. Thanks for continuing to share your tips and hints. I think this is great that you are putting this information out there for the community.

    1. Yeah! It’s not like I’m a guru or something like that xD Just want to show the ropes about SEO! Yeah, basically the way to make better SEO is just making what you would do to have more clicks and make people stay in your blog xD

  4. Thank you for your wonderful article. I have connected my site with everything as you said like Webmaster, Google Analytic etc, linked my site with more than 10 social media sites, Linked with Search engine submission, Directory Submission but still not getting any backlink from other sites. Please help to rank my site on SERP.

    1. No problem! 🙂 Hope it helped!

When it comes to backlink I would say that my best advice would be to join a community around your theme. Go to other bloggers/websites, like, comment and share their posts. Normally it will come back to you and they will do the same.

Another thing you can do is to ask to be a guest blogger in other sites around your subject and ask to link to you own site 🙂

      1. Thank You for your reply and suggestion, Actually I’m working in a IT company and doing in-house SEO. I’m doing the same as you said. Let’s hope for the best.
