Time for a New Update!
Hello everyone and welcome to our place!
Today I’m doing a little update. The reason is just that I’m going on holidays next week!!!!
However, I won’t have access to the Internet which means that I won’t be posting nothing next week! (I can hear the crying over here).
Nevertheless, writing a post only about that is way too short, so I decided to write a little more about what is happening in my life!
– Streaming –
Let’s start with Twitch, shall we? Well, long story short I’ve not been doing it ahah
Why I have not been doing it? Well, first of all not have any viewers most of the time help 😀 But, that’s not really it! Lately, I’ve been all over the place (I always say this I know) and the time to twitch (or the head for it) have been lacking…
As you know, I’m in the pursuit of a new job, I have the blog here which from what you have seen I’ve been working even more into it (we’ll go there in a while) and I’ve been working in my secret project (still not saying). This, along with work… Well, I just can’t have the energy to stream when I get home. I mean, no one wants to watch a guy almost dead on camera, right? So, yeah, I’ve been playing, but for myself.
Nevertheless, I will come back, don’t worry! 🙂 But, before that, I actually want to work in the plan for the Twitch. I want to understand what voice do I want to have on Twitch and go accordingly with that.
– Work –
Time to spill the bins about why I’m looking for a new job. First of all, thank you so much for you all concern when I tweeted about this subject! It really melted my heart to know you really do give an F about my life <3
But, don’t worry! I’m not unemployed! I’m still working… And hating ahah xD Long story short, every day there are things happening at my company that completely go against my way of doing things and work. So, during the last few months, I’ve become more and more demotivated. One day, there was something that completely crossed the line and I decided it was time to leave. However, until I get a job I won’t quit (I need the money!!!)
This way, I’ve been applying to different jobs. However, still no “yes” to anything. In fact, most of the time people don’t even answer me LOL
I have 3 career paths as options:
- Working in the gaming industry
- Working as a content creator – with no management whatsoever, just creating
- Continuing my digital marketing career
The problem is, I’m not going to relocate to other country and I don’t want to go work 1 hour from my home. I’m sorry, but I just don’t want to lose that kind of life/work balance. This way, I’m trying to find things close to my home or remotely. In fact, most of the jobs I applied are remote and the company is normally from USA… No answers though… Bah… But, well… Since I’m from Portugal it’s probably because of that.
– Blogging –
I think you can clearly see that I’ve been working more in the content creation for the blog. I mean, you can see that I’ve been doing more collabs and I’m actually trying to put more content out. Let’s see if I’m able to continue this xD
I’ve also started using Pinterest again with the idea of being able to bring traffic to the blog. Since my account was not really about Anime I had to delete most of my boards and went from 300+- followers to 17 ahah 😀 But, it was something that had to be done! Regarding money… Well, no money at all so far ahah! However, you probably saw that I changed my strategy. I stopped using the “Merch of the Week” posts. Instead, you can always see the manga and Anime of the month in the right side of my posts. And, when it makes sense I will add affiliate links to the manga or the DVD of the Anime I’m talking about.
Sincerely I’m getting more clicks, but yet no money xD
I’m also seriously thinking about switching to WordPress.org. It’s just… Well… You basically get the same things you get in WordPress.com on Business by paying less than the personal one xD BUT, and this is really important! I will only change if I find a way to bring you all with me and have my posts being shown in the reader. Basically, only if I make sure that for you things continue the same! I won’t, and I’ll say it again WON’T go away from this community! At this moment you are a big part of why I blog and I’m not going away! Of course, my wordpress.com account will continue to exist and I’ll continue commenting on your stuff… I mean… It’s not like I’ve been able to do that in the past few weeks… But, you understand… Right?
– Secret Project –
You already know that I’m not going to say what it is yet… But, I’ve been working a lot on this and I think I’ll be ready to announce it real soon! In fact, the idea is to talk about it when I get to 500 followers so we will see!
I just have to say is that I’m really excited and SCARED about this project! It’s a big one and that will take a lot of work from me… Moreover, I want to make sure it’s good for you to like it xD Nevertheless, for the time being, I’ve been able to work on t without any missteps and I have a clear idea of what I want from it… So, hopefully, everything goes well 😛
– Conclusion –
And that’s it! 😀 That’s how my life is at the moment! It has good days where I feel on top of the world, and then there are days that I just feel I’m not good enough… Strangely, I’m not talking about blogging right now but my profession xD
When it comes about blogging I’m really happy with it and working on it! I think it’s because of the collabs! It’s always so good to work on a post and feel a bonding with our fellow bloggers is deepening at the same time! :p

If you switch to WordPress.org the only real thing you need to do to get rough parity with .com is install the Jetpack plugin. Then you can integrate your external site with WordPress.com just as if it was hosted there.
You have more flexibility with your own installation (having the ability to freely install plugins is probably the biggest benefit), but you also have to keep it up to date yourself, make sure plugins work together and suchlike. You also have to be a *lot* more careful about security — in my experience, self-hosted WordPress sites can be quite vulnerable to random attacks, typically not out of any sort of maliciousness, but just passing hackers causing trouble “because they can”. So bear that in mind, too; good security may incur some additional expenses.
If you’re willing to put the work in to maintain your site, it’s worth doing for the added options it offers. Consider it carefully rather than just doing it because it’s cheap though — it may be cheaper in terms of money, but it’s a little more expensive in terms of time. 🙂

Regarding the jetpack plugin, I’ve already had read about it! But, I want to make sure that I make everything completely perfect and the passage as smooth as it can be, so I will take some time until I switch xD
Regarding the work to maintain the site… Well, I spend so much time trying to do things with the limited HTML that I can here in .com that would easily be done with plugins that I’m pretty sure that I won’t really feel the difference ahah
Ugh, sorry about the work thing man. That really is seriously annoying. In a way I can relate. There have been things happening at my company that have demotivated me as well. But I have worked there for 22 years now and it’s not easy to suddenly drop everything and make a switch. It’s honestly scary to do that. But, if things continue in this way, I may have to look into different options as well. That said: I really hope you will be able to find something that suits you, because there is nothing worse than being at a job that just doesn’t give you enough energy any more.
You have a lot of cool things happening for you right now, especially with your blog, and I’m really looking forward to everyhing you have planned! (Including that secret project you keep talking about lol!)

Changing is always scary :/ I’m only 10 months on my company now and it’s already scary… But… Well, this is not going to work for me, so I need to find another thing… And fast xD Tired of waking up in the morning and not wanting to get up to go to work…

Yeah, this was actually my first day after a three week vacation again, and I really did have trouble getting up this morning as well. Didn’t really have that problem in the past. But yes, it’s a good thing to change it up, if isn’t working for you, so that’s very wise indeed.

Oooh a three week vacation off! That seems like the dream! Although I would be scared to come back to the office… Probably there would be way too many things waiting for me to do ahah

I also hope you can find the type of job you’re looking for. It’s never good to work at a place when stuff is happening and you get demotivated almost every day. If you don’t leave a job like that, you could get depressed and experience burnout (as is happening with my boyfriend, Michel knows as he said in his comment, work conditions are terrible).
So I hope someone says “yes” soon!!!

Well… I indeed had a great time! I went to Algarve… Since you are from Europe I think you probably already have heard about it xD Just pool and beach… all day! It was GREAT!
Yeah… That’s pretty much it… I’m just tired of it… For the first time ever since I joined the working force I ended up my holidays and didn’t want to go to work… Even though I spent 1 week just chilling and completely off from everything -.-
Oh wow that is lovely! I can only imagine what it looks like but considering it’s all the way south it’s probably a bit like Ibiza? Lovely blue waters and beaches ?

Yeah more or less! XD Not as good as Ibiza… Or at least as I think how Ibiza is, but yes… Hot water (it’s the end of the Mediterranean sea) and clear water eheh xD

I’m looking to switch to .org soon too, but Pete got there before me. Yeah, all you need is teh Jetpack plug-in, and it’ll keep your followers, or so i’m told.
Ahah Pete always have that thing of being a little further than everyone else doesn’t he? XD Yeah from what I read I got the same conclusion as also it will appear in the WordPress Reader which for me is the more important! 🙂
Absolutely. My own switch is now done, and as far as I can tell I’m turning up on Reader, so that’s a good sign. They can migrate your stats too so you keep all the same analytics.

Yeah, me too! Our collab is one of the main factors actually ahahah and… After this week off I’m with a huge urge to write more and more eheh
I’m on WordPress.org, and it does make my life so much easier with all the plug-ins and stuff. It takes some time and experimenting of course, but I think you would be happier overall than WordPress.com with the paid plans.
That being said…
There are instructions to bring followers over, but I don’t know how successful it was. Because my stats crashed horribly after switching. I don’t mean just tapering off; it was an immediate drop. People who used to visit everyday stopped coming around, and new followers don’t come nearly as often since it’s not part of WordPress.com. It was discouraging I admit since I put so much effort into it, but I still like plugins.
Yeah, that’s what I’m thinking about… I do hope I can experiment before changing to .org first though…

It was very discouraging (and sometimes still is), but I’m grateful to have a nice reliable group of visitors. But the clone plug-in alone makes things so much easier on me, so que sera sera. I just wanted to give you a warning, but hopefully, you’ll have a smooth move (if you do move) and it won’t be needed.
