A Monochrome World | Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara First Impressions Review

A Monochrome World | Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara First Impressions Review

Hello everyone and welcome to our place! 😀

As I already told you, I’ll be following some Anime shows this Fall season – you can check the full list here. This way, I think it just makes sense to write about some (if not all of those), right? XD I won’t be doing an episodical review for each one of them, but, besides Goblin Slayer and Dakaichi which I’m doing a collab with Karandi, as you could read on Monday, for the others I will be doing some first/mid/late impressions and full review at the end of it.

Today, I bring you probably the most beautiful Anime of the season when it comes to background animation, I bring you,

– Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara –

– Synopsis –

Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara fireworks
Yaiii! Fireworks!

In a world where magic is something common, Isumi Tsukishiro is a girl who lost her sense of color at an early age. Her grandmother, a great mage, one day tells her that she needs to get back to the past and does one of the most difficult magic ever, time magic, sending Isumi to the year of 2018. Here she founds a guy who loves to draw and when she sees his first drawing, she could not believe, there it was, color!

The Background is Astounding, The Character Design in The Other Hand…

This just seems one of the most relaxing things ever!

The first thing I noticed in a positive way was the background design. Probably because Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara will focus into a photography/art club, everything is done in the utmost detail and with a lot of quality. Basically, the Anime is really easy to the eye.

Moreover, the changes between the color and monochromatic scenes are beautiful and it was nice to see our main characters’ perspective of the world.

However, when it is not possible to feel the difference between that quality and the character design. It’s not that the character design is bad. In fact, it’s what you could expect from a 2018 Anime. However, compared to the background quality you can clearly see a difference. Moreover, and this is clearly a personal opinion, I don’t really understand what the creators had in mind when designing those noses, or the lack of them for that matter. It just… Feels so off! XD

I mean… A white “shadow” and a dot are her freaking nose!!! It just feels strange

Nevertheless, overall it’s pretty good. Combining the backgrounds with the music, it just makes me enter in this new world pretty easily. The background music is LIT! It just sounds that I’m in this Disney-ish kind of fantasy movie.

There’s Magic AND Time Travel!

Have to give credit to the visuals… again

I mean, magic and time travel… What can we ask for more, right? The story starts with Hitomi’s grandma sending her to the past. Until now, 2 episodes in, and there is still no clear evidence why she did that.

However, I don’t think the Anime will, in fact, focus on the time travel kind of thing. From what I’ve watched, it seems it will be more about Hitomi finding herself and learn how to love magic.

This is, without a doubt, the most beautiful scene I’ve seen this Fall Season

For now, I don’t really know where my point of view stands when it comes to the plot. In one hand it seems that is going to be a nice slice of life to watch, on the other hand, it seems that it’s going to more than that, which can make this Anime plot just start to follow apart.

Until now, I can say that is not the story that is making me want to watch more, but the music and the visuals.

In Fact, The Story Feels a Little Predictable… Hope I’m Wrong

Probably I’m wrong, but this is what I think the story will go.

Hitomi just found that she can see color when watching Aoi’s drawings. This way, I’m pretty sure Hitomi will start getting closer to this character. Moreover, since Aoi wants to see her magic, she will start practicing just for him.

That one is clear, I think. However, I actually think that down in the line, we will find out that Aoi is, in fact, Hitomi’s grandfather. From there, probably there will have some problems like Aoi falling in love for Hitomi which will bring all sort of problems. But, in this case, I’m not 100% positive, we will just have to watch to see 😛

The only thing I can’t still understand is why Kohaku sent her granddaughter to the past. Is it only for her to start like magic and become the strongest sorcerer alive (she has the power for that), or is it a little more deep, like needing her to destroy some bad guys and save the day? Well, only time will tell!

What about You?

I’m also loving Kurumi’s character (the creepy one in the pic)

Are you following Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara or thinking on watching it? What did you think about it? Tell me in the comments.

For me, the environment is brilliantly created and will watch this until the end only because of this. However, character wise it could be a little better, while when it comes to the story, I’m still trying to understand how I feel about it 😛

    1. Hope it has been good busy and not stressful busy! XD

Well that’s good to hear! Thank you for checking it out xD it seems that it’s just not as interesting of a post as I would thought then XP

  1. This is one I wanted to try out but I don’t have access. I’m curious as to how it will go so I’ll be eagerly reading about it this season and hopefully it is one I’ll catch up with after the season is done.

    1. That’s a bummer :/ Hopefully you will be able to watch it after the season ends. To be honest, I’m not sure if the Anime will be great… It has realy good visuals, but besides that it all seem a little bland and with little sense at the moment :/

      1. It’s getting quite a bit of attention with some bloggers really liking it and others finding it a little bit slow, but it will probably be one I’ll keep an eye out for in the future just to see for myself.
