Why Jibaku Shounen Hanako-Kun Is the Best Anime of Winter Season

Hello everyone, and welcome to our shelter! The 2020 Anime Winter Season finished a couple of weeks ago, which means it’s the perfect time to start building your list of Animes to binge-watch. That also means that this is the perfect time for me to give you a few recommendations of great Animes that debuted last season – one of them being Jibaku Shounen Hanako-Kun. However, before we get into the reasons why I think this is the best Anime of the season, I invite you to check the gallery that I’ve been building throughout the Winter. Synopsis

Yashiro is your regular schoolgirl that has her fair share of problems with the boys. Hoping to grab one of her senpais attention, she decides to believe in the rumor that there is a ghost in the bathroom that will come out and grant any wish after calling his name three times. The rumor ends up being true, but the help she gets is not what she expected. At the end of the day, she ends up as the ghost’s assistant and starts to discover that there is way more to her school than she anticipated.

I can’t count the times where I start to watch an Anime with a comedy tag on MAL just to not laugh even once throughout the episodes. Yeah, it’s true, I have a difficult sense of humor, and not everything is able to get to me. However, that’s not what happens with Jibaku Shounen Hanako-Kun. Besides the visual gags that always makes me laugh, this Anime also delivers some well-timed and funny jokes that don’t need to resort to visuals to provide a fun time.

But it’s not only comedy that Jibaku Shounen Hanako-Kun offers. It’s able to combine cuteness with spookiness very well. There are scenes where you just melt over how cute the characters look like, and then there are scenes where you feel amazed about the fantastic environment created. There’s no doubt that the creators of Jibaku Shounen-Hanako-Kun were able to come up with a very complete and unique world that grabs any viewer’s attention.

The Animation Is Different but Amazing

The first thing to notice when watching Jibaku Shounen Hanako-Kun is its animation. It’s not one of those Anime shows that offer flawless action scenes, very well-drawn characters, or realistic backgrounds. However, for a fantasy/supernatural Anime, they were able to really catch the vibe needed.

Backgrounds have a more childish approach, which results very well in a fantasy world. On the other hand, characters are drawn to be cute, where the creator decided to have a strong bordering line that really makes them pop up and look amazing. It’s always hard to discuss animation, so just give a quick look at the gallery to see it for yourself 🙂 You’ll be amazed for sure.

The second part I loved about the animation was its flow. The way the show compensates for a somewhat slow animation was by adding small panels here and there similar to what you could find in a manga. I never thought to say this, but it works really well and gives movement to what would be a still frame.

It Delivers a Great Story

In the first few episodes, I thought that Jibaku Shounen Hanako-Kun was just a cute and funny Anime, perfect to chill out. However, as time passed by and I watched more of it, the story started to unfold into something that seems to be pretty heavy.

I don’t want to get much into this since I don’t want to share any spoilers. Moreover, the show hasn’t ended yet, and it will need a second season to conclude. Nevertheless, the story was good enough for me to get excited and want to know more. I’m certain that I’ll watch the second season to see the story wrapping up since I want closure for all the plotlines started throughout this season.

Of course, there’s also the romance aspect of it. Although, on this case, I kind of know what is going to happen, it’s going to be interesting seeing how the creators are going to solve the issue of Yashiro being a human and Hanako a ghost.

Those are my top 3 reasons on why Jibaku Shounen Hanako-Kun was the best Anime debuting this Winter season. Easy to guess that I strongly recommend to anyone to watch it, regardless if they’re fans of the genre or not. Have you watched it?
