Otherside Picnic Episode 12 (Final) Discussion & Gallery

Otherside Picnic’s final episode was a great showcase of what the Anime has turned itself into. Unfortunately, this is not a compliment. There are so many small things that don’t make sense that I’m actually happy that the Anime is finally over. I know that these might seem nitpicks, but they really take me out of the immersion.

Let’s start with the final part of the ‘saving the soldiers’ operation. Episode 12 picks things up from the previous one ended. That’s ok. We have this creepy woman who’s so terrifying that she’s able to delete people’s memories of encountering her. Ok, sure! Time for the questions that weren’t explained. The way Sorawo is able to make this demon put it’s by watching her right in the eye. Why is that? Is this woman a cat? Cats are the ones who will defy you by looking at you in the eyes – the first one to break eye contact is considered the weakest of the two. Moreover, Sorawo comments that she can’t break eye contact several times, but then she proceeds to either close her eyes, look down, or something similar. This doesn’t make any sense.

Then, Toriko finally gets a big enough tank to injure the demon. That’s ok! But how is Toriko able to hit the demon right in the place she was supposed to when Sorawo is the only one who’s able to see the demons’ weak point? Again, doesn’t make sense. I also don’t understand why the tank does any damage, to begin with, since Toriko’s hand is supposed to be the only thing that can touch otherside’s monsters…

The rest of the episode focused on Sorawo and Toriko’s relationship. First, I don’t understand how Sorawo didn’t notice that Kozakura had a portal to the otherside right at her doorstep. Secondly, the Anime seemed to build up to a yuri moment, but (as always) it felt short. I was convinced that in the end, we would get Sorawo confessing her feelings for Toriko, but the characters just went with ‘friends’. But that’s Otherside Picnic in a nutshell. Did you enjoy Otherside Picnic’s episode 12? Tell me everything down below. ?

I’ll be adding new galleries throughout the season as new episodes come out. Enjoy! If you have a website and want to use one of my images, feel free to do so. I’ll be happy if you backlink to this article, but it’s not mandatory.

  1. I got the idea that Sorawo was “fixing” the demon in place by looking at it. That made it damageable by material things. Toriko had to feel around to find the right spot to hit it. I might have made this explanation up in my head at the time.

I was actually concerned they’d end the show without ever resolving the soldier’s fate, throwing them out there as a plot device and then forgetting about them.
