Beastars Season 2 Episode 12 (Final) Discussion & Gallery
There’s so much to unpack from Beastar’s season two final episode. The problem is I don’t understand most of it – probably because I’m a human and can’t completely relate. It’s been a few days since I’ve finished the series, and I’m still trying to understand this sentiment about eating and getting eaten. Honestly, I think the feeling is stronger than love or sex. I can’t really put my finger around it, but it’s clear that Legoshi and Louis’s relationship is far stronger than the protagonist’s romance with Haru.
The final battle was quite nice. I expected that Legoshi would be able to put more of a fight. But I guess you can’t beat an animal who has the advantage of eating meat. That’s why we end up in the predicament of Louis wanting Legoshi to eat part of his body. We all know from the anteater’s episode that medicine is quite futuristic regarding prosthetics and limb reattachment. Still, that had to hurt – a lot! It just shows how much Louis cares about Legoshi, and the scene where he couldn’t fight his tears was heartwarming.
Even so, the season’s end is bittersweet. On the one hand, Louis comes to terms that he will never be as strong as a carnivorous animal. That’s just sad. Especially considering that his objective so far has been getting stronger so he could meet his predators’ eye-to-eye. On a brighter note, the idea that he decides to offer one of his legs as food shows how strong his friendship with Legoshi is. They really are the first herbivorous/carnivorous friendship that kind of works.
Now, I wonder what we’ll have on season 3. Legoshi finishes the season telling Haru that he’s going to drop school. Since the rabbit is going to stay, I don’t know how the Anime is going to focus on what put everything into motion – this strange romance. Honestly, I can’t wait to watch it!
