Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Episode 13 Discussion & Gallery

Ok – I’m confused as hell right now! Higurashi no Naku Koro ni’s episode 13 was alright. It was awesome to see the village working together to save Satoko from her uncle, the festival was great, and it was cute to see Satoko calling Keiichi her brother’s nickname. Honestly, I preferred that to a romance between the two. However – that ending… It needs a lot of explanation.

Everything starts when Satoko’s uncle appears, and hits Keiichi in the head with a baseball bat. Keiichi is able to defend himself, grab the bat, and kill Satoko’s uncle in the same way he had dreamt in episode 10. Basically, a true Higurashi death. However, the questions start right here. How did Satoko’s uncle leave the police station so easily? From what the characters said, he was caught while being aggressive against Satoko. I’m pretty sure that’s enough to put someone in jail for a few nights and have policemen guarding the victim. But, ok… I’ll let it slide.

However, there’s one thing that I can’t comprehend – the festival shooting. First of all, I don’t understand the reason behind it. I’m guessing Ooishi was possessed by the deity, who sent him on a killing rampage. Very well, but how did Satoko die there? Her house seemed a bit far away from the festival place. Not only that but if she got there, then she would ask for help right away and come back to the house. I’m really not sure how she would get shot in such a short time span.

Meanwhile, how did anyone find Keiichi in time to save him? I’m pretty sure everyone would be with their eyes on what was happening at the festival – police, paramedics, firemen, everything. Yet, he was able to get to the hospital fast enough to treat such a head injury. It just seems to be out of my grasp – hopefully, everything is going to be explained later, and this arc ending isn’t just a slip-up. Did you enjoy Higurahi’s episode 13?
