Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 17 Discussion & Gallery
It seems Jujutsu Kaisen has reached the time where all side characters get their own screen time. Honestly, I don’t mind, as most of them are quite interesting and needed some background to set them up. The episode mainly focuses on the twin sisters’ story, but the battle between Nobara and Momo still deserves some praise for the over-the-top visuals. Also, is it just me, or Nobara just became way stronger than she was before?
But back to the more important story of the episode. It’s amazing how much thought was given to two side characters’ backstory. The panda already had an interesting upbringing, but the twin sisters’ story really gets the trophy. First of all, it was strange as hell to see Mai and Maki being friendly to each other. Not sure why, but I just thought they had a terrible relationship from the beginning. I mean, stories where siblings just don’t get along for whatever reason aren’t unheard of. But, how Jujutsu Kaisen built their story is far better than them being enemies just because.
The fight didn’t seem to actually improve their relationship that much. But, at least, both Maki and Mai were able to take what they’ve been bottling up off their chest. Moreover, since Maki askes for forgiveness at the end of the scene, I think they could at least become neutral with each other. In other words, not try to kill each other every time they meet.
