Akudama Drive Episode 1 Discussion & Gallery

Akudama Drive was one of the Anime titles I was looking forward to the most this Fall season. I’m happy to say that episode 1 not only met all my expectations, but it actually surpassed them. I’m not sure how the story is going to develop (episode 1 was more about introducing the characters, after all), but I was blown away by the animation.

Akudama Drive’s plot is set in a cyber punk-ish world, and the environment really displays that well. I also think that the more traditional and more technological animation is well mixed. Even the CGI scenes didn’t throw me off. Sure, you can see the difference between the two types of animation, but I don’t mind it since both are well done.

The characters also seem interesting enough. The main female character is just an ordinary girl who ended up getting mixed in with Japan’s biggest criminals. However, those offenders seem to have some crazy personalities that I’m gonna love to watch (especially the big-boobed doctor). Overall, it was a great episode to watch, and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. The ending hints that they were all put together for some reason, so let’s see what’s going to happen.
