Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Episode 15 Discussion & Gallery

Well, that went fast! I wasn’t expecting that we would see Rika go through four parallel worlds in just one episode. Considering that Higurashi took around 3-4 episodes to tell each arc so far, it makes me wonder if this next arc will take nine episodes. I mean, Rika stated that she would end her life definitely after five failed attempts, meaning that there’s only one missing.

On the other hand, if I was the author, I would have her fail for the fifth time and only finish the story in the sixth ‘arc’. That would be a great way to increase the suspense – is she going to kill herself, or will her friends be able to help her right in the last moment? We’ll have to wait and see.

When it comes to episode 15, I enjoyed how Higurashi started like any other arc but then went into fast-paced mode. Not only was it surprising, but it also helped me understand how Rika is feeling. With so many deaths happening one after the other, you really feel how hard it must be for Rika to die (and remember) time after time. The best scene of them all was when Rika askes the old man to kill her quickly. It just shows that although she’s able to come back to life again, she still gets hurt every time.
