Tonikaku Kawaii Episode 5 Discussion & Gallery

Who knew Tsukasa was such a nerd for cinema? She could run a movie blog if she wanted. Clearly, she would write something way better than my average-at-best Anime articles. That’s right, Tonikaku Kawaii episode 5 starts with a bang with Tsukasa being dumbfounded about Nasa not owning a TV. She’s also pretty astonished when she finds out that he has zero knowledge about movies. From Tsukasa going over a famous director career to Nasa saying that the “Human Centipede” looked like “fun”, the show started with a good punchline. A small detail that I laughed pretty hard about was seeing Nasa delivering food on a “Over Eats” motorcycle. That joke works in so many ways.

From there, Tonikaku Kawaii returns to its more laidback slice-of-life flow that we all have learned to love. I’ve already commented about this, but I never expected I would enjoy watching a couple buying something like a TV. But Tonikaku Kawaii showed me how fun and heartwarming the mundane can be. It’s all about the little things, am I right?

When it comes to the rings bit, it wasn’t as funny as the creators probably wanted. Of course, it’s cute seeing Nasa going to a jewelry shop, thinking that diamond rings are something affordable. His emotional ride was funny to watch, but it wasn’t something that I laughed out loud. Nonetheless, Tonikaku was able to finish with a heartwarming scene that made me think whether I should also get matching rings with my boyfriend. He hates rights, so probably not.
