4 Reasons Why You Should Watch Carole & Tuesday

4 Reasons Why You Should Watch Carole & Tuesday
3C Category

Hello everyone and welcome to our shelter! ๐Ÿ™‚

Today, I bring you what is going to probably be the best Anime of the season (for my personal taste). I still have to watch some other Anime which I still haven’t the opportunity to get into. However, putting it all together, Carole & Tuesday just hits too close to home and makes me feel all these feelings inside ๐Ÿ˜›

Before I start with the 4 main reasons you should watch this, just let me give you a small entail on what the Anime is about. (You can just pass this part if you already know Carole & Tuesday story).

Synopsis

Carole and Tuesday Review

Carole & Tuesday follows the story of two girls, Carole and Tuesday (duh!) who want to make a living as singers in a future where music is completely done by Artificial Intelligence.

Both girls come from completely different backgrounds. While Carole has spent her childhood going from forest house to forest house, Tuesday comes from a very wealthy family. However, Tuesday’s dream to live as a singer does not go according to what her mother wants for her and she decides to run away and go to the big city.

Though they are completely different, through music, they end up to click with each other and become instant friends. One day, while singing in a venue (although they were not supposed to be there), they get filmed and the music starts to get some traction on the Internet which leads them to finally get a manager.

Will the girls be able to succeed in a World where human singers are no longer existent?

4 Reasons I’m Loving Carole & Tuesday

1 – It Hits Really Close To Home

Carole & Tuesday First Impressions

I’m a little biased on this one. However, Carole & Tuesday makes me remember Nana a lot. For the ones following for some time you already know, but for the others who stumbled on this post, Nana is my favourite Anime of all time.

But, don’t take me wrong… The show is not that similar to Nana. In fact, not even the genre of music is similar. While Nana explores the Punk Rock genre, Carole & Tuesday have more of a chill pop approach. Moreover, Carole & Tuesday is, in most part of it, a light and bright story, not dark, putting you in tears, like Nana.

Nevertheless, the friendship between Carole & Tuesday is very similar to Nana and Hachi friendship. It’s one of those relationships that you know they have each other backs and really go well together! It’s just pleasant to watch such friendship to bloom.

So, just for that, I know I will watch Carole & Tuesday until the end of the season… But, there’s even more which will lead people who haven’t seen Nana like and be entertained nevertheless.

2 – The Story

Charole and Tuesday intro

Although I watch Anime more for the fantastic part of it (or the slice of life, high school kind of story), truth is, I love to watch stories where characters, that could be one of your friends, are pursuing their dreams. I believe it’s because I relate so much towards it. I’m also still pursuing my dreams, more than that, I think I’m still trying to understand what my dreams are xD But, that’s a story for another day. For now, you can read why I built Anime Shelter here.

For someone who likes music so much, I have to say it’s very interesting to watch an Anime which passes in a future where music is completely robotic. In fact, if we think for a second, we just have to ask if this is not the creator saying that it’s what is already happening nowadays and that it will develop to that in the future.

For example, the auto-tune is real… Most pop singers use it… And let’s not forget that mics nowadays have already sound distortion incorporated to make sure the singer is always on pitch (or even add cool effects such as echo and so on). And, of course, we also have going fully playback.

If we think it like this, then what is the difference to have an AI doing all the work? Do you don’t think that they would be able to go through the data of what has been hot for, I don’t know, the last 10 years and create music accordingly that will make sure that is a hit? It’s a very interesting concept and something we can explore due to the “antagonist” story. (I’m not sure if she is going to be the antagonist or not).

Nevertheless, the story itself wants to pass the message that real people singing will always be better than a robot singing. Well, to be honest, I also think like that! It’s not for no reason that I always look for acapella bits from the singers I like. Though, to be honest, I do enjoy the electronic instrumental parts in many songs xD

3 – The Music Itself

Carole And Tuesday practicing

I think it has been ages since I watched an Anime focusing on singing where I actually liked the music. Nana, AKB0048 and K-On are probably the ones where I actually liked the flow of the music. Only talking about singing music of course… If we go for classical music, where is just instrumental… Well, I’m a sucker for classical music, so I think I liked all I’ve watched so far ๐Ÿ˜›

The music in Carole & Tuesday is in English (and it does sound like English). Probably because the voice actresses are not the same as the singers. For Carole, we have Nai Br.XX as the singing voice who was born in New York and on Tuesday side we have Celeina Ann whose father is American. So, in the end, it makes sense that both can speak English fluently.

Their voices really go well together and, so far, the music is just a delight to listen… Very relaxing and soft. I love it (and will look at these singers’ work for sure!).

But, wait! There’s more! I also love how the characters come up with their songs. One example is when they are doing laundry. Carole starts doing some beat just for the sake of it, Tuesday also gets into it and, before you know it, you have a song about life in general and how it is compared to the clothes inside of the laundry machine going around. I know it may seem stupid, but… From the creative sparks I have… Well, they are very similar xD

4 – The Animation

Carole Anime beautiful

Probably I should not be that surprised since Carole & Tuesday is a Netflix exclusive? But, it actually surprised me to see an Anime having some western design influence.

The thing is, the Anime continues to follow the Japanese animation and, you can easily see it is, in fact, an Anime. However, the environment, backgrounds, and so on, do have a nice western vibe to them. It really makes me happy to see two different approaches to animation come up so well together!

Moreover, I’m not sure if this should be inserted in the animation or not, but I love the diversity they have in Carole & Tuesday. Even being 2019, black people are really not that represented in Anime. Probably because of the fascination Japanese have with white skin, I don’t know… But, that’s a story to tell on another day.

For now, I have to say that I love to see more diversity and to have black people portrayed throughout the Anime, especially having one as the main character and to see that there is no exaggeration whatsoever in her figure. She is just a normal girl, that’s it. Props for that and, hopefully, we will see more diversity in the Anime industry in general from now on.

Conclusion

Carole And Tuesday Friends

Carole & Tuesday should be under your radar. Of course, if you only like Shounen Anime, or Anime which presents a lot of action, you probably won’t like this one.

However, if you are a little more open than that (and you should), then as you can see, I highly recommend to try this one out! I believe you won’t be disappointed! I’m loving it so far, and I can’t wait to watch episode 4.

What about you? Have you watched Carole & Tuesday already? Tell me in the comments what you think of it ๐Ÿ˜‰
