Day 8: Favourite Anime Couple | and some Honorable Mentions of course

Hi guys and welcome to my place!

It’s day 8 of my 30-ish Anime Challenge!!! First, let us see the list of the challenge (You can click any of the days before to go to the post of that day :P):

So today is the day to tell you my favourite couple of all time! For a romance addict as me it is not that easy!! There are many couples which I love and think of them as relationship goals! What I’m going to do is give you the one I remembered out of the bat and then some honourable mentions to the ones who came to my mind afterwords 😛 For the favourite couple it has to be:

Asuna and Kirito from Sword Art Online

Where do they shine more than the others you may ask? Well, Asuna and Kirito start getting together and falling in love in a place and time where they think they will never be able to come back to reality from the MMORPG they are into. They decide to get a little house and start living their daily life inside a video game as it was the real one. They even adopt a NPC girl!

Basically, I love this couple because they relationship seems so real and mature. They start helping each other and along their adventures, where there are victories, failures, happy and sad moments, they end up falling in love, what normally happens in real life. Even though they are young (at least for me) they do have a really mature relationship. First they both respect each other a lot, they both know each one strengths and let the other shine with those strengths and they also accept each other weaknesses, which for me is even more important than liking each other strong points. Last, but not the least they really do a cute couple! 😀

Now, for my honorable mentions:

Misaki and Usui from Kaichou wa Maid-Sama!

Do you know the expression “the more you hit me the more I like you?”, well this is the case! At least for Usui 😀 Now, Usui is just a genius which doesn’t really need to work hard to have good marks, be good at sports, or whatever you throw at him. Misaki is a genius of hard work, she is always second place, behind Usui, but she really gives her all day after day after day.

They start their relationship as rivals, at least Misaki thinks Usui as a rival, while Usui just sees her as the second place. However as Usui starts knowing more about Misaki, meaning that after school she works as a part-timer in a maid coffee shop, he starts falling for her. It will take a lot of conquest work until Misaki starts to fall for him too, or at least being honest about her feelings.

They just work so well together and let’s face it, their kids will be even more perfect than both of them. They seem completely different from each other, but when they start to know each other a little more they understand that they are much more alike that what they though, even if coming from completely different backgrounds.

Rintarou and Kurisu from Steins Gate

Have you ever heard that opposites attract? Well, if not you can see this expression coming to life (at least anime life xD) with your own eyes in Steins Gate. Rintarou is just a plain mad scientist (go to the favourite male anime character if you want to read a more detailed characterization :D), while Kurisu is that kind of person that has everything under control, even herself.

Now, what happens when 2 people completely different from each other fall in love and have a relationship? They grow…. A lot! And the creators of Steins Gate knew how to make this happen! Even though their relationship is not the main focus of the anime it contributes a lot for their character evolution. You will start to see a more serious Rintarou and a more laid back Kurisu, why? Because that’s what normally happens when couples with really different personalities have a relationship, (and they are smart enough to know that you always need to adapt) they start to mold into each other and balancing their own personality with the personality of the other person (Can tell that this is true by personal experience :P).

Risa and Otoni from Lovely Complex

This one is a good example of both “the more you hit me the more I like you” and that opposite attract. Risa and Otoni are those kind of people if you saw them side by side you would not, in a million years, ship them. Why you ask? Well she is tall enough to be a model, while he is short enough to…. Go on vacation without playing a ticket because he probably can fit himself inside one of the bags (?)

Seeing their love grow for each other in Lovely Complex is just so damn pleasant. They start by “hating” each other, they are always arguing and hitting each other, however while the show goes on, they start to believe they have feelings for each. Of course, the way things are they are not going to go and just saying it right? I mean if you felt in love with someone who you think that hates you would not just go over there and say “Hey, I know you hate me…. But hate and love are really close to each other right?”… This way it really is fun to see each other trying to understand if the other likes them and at the same time seeing that everything they try to do pleasant to each other ends up badly.

Basically, it is a couple that is not meant to be, but sooner or later it happens and you have the opportunity to see them face each other in a serious way and be able to confess how much they love each other and… Oh boy! You really feel the sentiment of “This is going to be forever”. Of course before that you will have to wait for them even being able to look right into each other eyes without getting embarrassed.
